De Pere, Wis.(WFRV)--Local Five is proud to bring you another one of our Hometown Heroes.
This week, we introduce you to a man who was injured during service to our country, and since then, he has fought for other disabled veterans.
Dick Marbes joined the Air Force in 1955. At the age of 17, he was sent to Germany.  He was injured in a flightline accident, and wound up with bone cancer. He eventually lost his leg.
The Disabled American Veterans organization helped him put his life back together. That's why, years later, Marbes decided to join the DAV to help other disabled veterans.
Local Five's Chelly Boutott has his story.
