Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - A Green Bay liquor store has lost it's liquor license after it's owners were accused of welfare fraud.

The Green Bay City Council night voted Tuesday night to revoke the license of Beach Road Liquors after it's owners, 52-year-old Gurdeep Basanti  and her husband 56-year old Gurnek Basanti, were charged with numerous felonies and misdemeanors.

According to the criminal complaint, the Basantis allowed customers to use their quest cards to purchase alcohol and cigarettes or trade them for cash.

The City of Green Bay's assistant attorney said the decision does not violate employment discrimination despite the owners not yet being convicted.
