UPDATE: Skate park fundraising begins

By: Bret Lemoine
Updated: September 23, 2012

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) Some skate boarders and BMX bikers got together with a modest start to a big fundraising goal.  Friends of the Appleton Skate Park showed of their skills at Telulah Park Sunday afternoon.  The group hopes to raise $350,000 to build a new skate park there.

That effort began this weekend with tee shirt sales.  Once they raise that money, the city will help.  Group president Keevie Bromehorst explains, "Once we raise that, which is definitely going to take some creativity, the city has promised to also then to allocate some money in their budgets."

Granite tiles will also be sold to sponsors and posted at the park.  Construction is planned for 2014.
