Menasha, Wis. (WFRV) -
"We've always been runners and we wanted someday for her to participate in it and so when we found team triumph," Her mother Tracey Guerrero says, "we thought that would be a great way to include her in something we love to do as a family."
My Team Triumph, helping athletes with disabilities who normally can't participate. A total of eleven teams taking part in Sunday's Fox Cities Marathon.
"I'm very proud of her," her father Vince says, "that's my daughter and I wouldn't trade her for anything so just to have her be a part of it and have us help her makes me feel good."
Like the rest of My Team Triumph participants, Isabelle had to be pushed along the race route with the assistance of her mom, dad and former teacher.
But it was her remarkable finish that drew a thunderous applause from the crowd.
"It was very emotional" Isabelle's great aunt Ginger Ambrose says, "very emotional. She's truly our gift to our family."
A medal to show for her incredible finish...memories the Guerrero family will hold as dear as Isabelle's smile.
Ginger added, "she's just a special person and brings so much to our lives."
