Green Bay, Wis.(WFRV)- A former NFL quarterback for the Detroit Lions was in our area today to talk about depression and suicide prevention.
Eric Hipple spoke at NWTC's "Food for Thought" series in Green Bay this morning.
In April of 2000, Hipple's 15 year old son committed suicide, which sent him into deep depression.
His presentation discusses ways to recognize the signs and risks of depression in order to prevent potential suicides.
Says Hipple, "It's one of those things that stays hidden for quite a while that creates a lot of problems in your work, you know the concentration issues, and school. It ultimately affects quality of life and health issues as well."
Hipple spoke again Tuesday night at Lambeau Field.
