Brewers win, pull within 3.5 games of Cardinals

Ryan Braun slugged his 41st home run of the season as the Milwaukee Brewers kept their faint playoff hopes alive Wednesday night.
The Brewers defeated the Reds 8-1, while the Cardinals lost to the Astros, 2-0. The Brewers are now 3.5 games behind the Cardinals in the race for the National League's second wild-card spot.
St. Louis has the day off Thursday, while the Brewers play the Reds in the afternoon. A Milwaukee win would pull them within three games of St. Louis with six to play. The Brewers complete their season with six straight games at home.
