Troubles in the bullpen will define the 2012 Milwaukee Brewers.
With their backs up against the wall in the race for the final NL Wild Card spot, another late-inning failure may mean the beginning of the end for Milwaukee which now finds itself four games behind St. Louis with six left to play.
John Axford gave up a 9th inning home run to Todd Frazier which tied the game 1-1. Then in the 10th Axford, who had successfully saved his previous 15 chances, gave up a game-winning RBI triple to Dioner Navarro.
The Brewers scored their lone run in the 3rd inning when Carlos Gomez blasted his 17th home run of the season.
Brewers' starter Willy Peralta exited the game in the 7th inning after striking out a career-high six batters and only allowing two hits. The Brewers top pitching prospect said he felt his biceps tighten up in his throwing arm.
Milwaukee heads back to Miller Park for the final six games of the season against Houston and San Diego.
