Rett syndrome is found almost exclusively in females. Typically girls with Rett syndrome have normal growth and development through age one, after which they lose speech and purposeful hand movements. They most often develop scoliosis, gastrointestinal issues, and seizures.
Registration for the strollathon begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Meadowbrook Park in Howard, with the relaxed 2-mile Stroll to begin at 10 a.m.
There will be a raffle with over 60 items up for bid.
There will also be plenty of entertainment for the kids, including Clifford the Big Red Dog and Magician Jim Lenz.
The money raised will go to benefit the International Rett Syndrome Foundation whose mission is to support those with Rett syndrome and their families, fund promising research, and increase vital awareness.
