Menasha School Dist. asks voters to support referendum

By: Jim McShea
Updated: September 28, 2012

Menasha, Wis. - (WFRV) The Menasha Joint School District wants to know if homeowners there could support a multi- million-dollar high school expansion and renovation project.

To find out, more than 10,000 surveys have been mailed out.

Residents have the choice of picking from two building options for the high school.

Option one would cost  from $37-to-$41 million, and includes remodeling the current building, plus a  56-thousand square feet addition.

The second option would cost $26-to-$30 million, and involves remodeling, along with the construction of an 45-thousand square foot addition.

"This is important to us because we have a building that was built in 1937," Superintendent Dr. Robert Kobylski says.  "So it's been around for a while and in need of repairs also for our vision for the 21st century we know we need to fix that building."

District officials told Local 5 the expansion and renovation project could be on the ballot next spring.
