(WFRV)- The two candidates for Wisconsin's open U.S. Senate seat met for the first of three planned debates tonight.
Republican Tommy Thompson and Democrat Tammy Baldwin shared a sometimes heated exchange in the debate broadcast statewide.
For Tammy Baldwin this debate comes at a time when the polls show she's out in front, but even with Thompson 9 points behind, his campaign feels the former governor can still win herb kohl's senate seat.
Tonight Thompson went about reintroducing himself to voters, reminding them of his 15 years as Wisconsin's governor.
He also used ever opportunity to portray Baldwin as liberal and out of touch with voters.
Baldwin remained consistent with the message she been sending since the primary - painting Thompson as a Washington insider who cares more about making money than protecting the rights of the middle class.
