Gamblers lose opener, 4-3 to Waterloo

GREEN BAY (Green Bay Gamblers) - The Waterloo Black Hawks defeated the defending Clark and Anderson Cup Champions, Green Bay Gamblers, in a close contest of 4-3 in a rematch of last season's final series Friday at the Resch Center on opening night. Vince Hinostroza scored a pair of goals in the third period to give the Black Hawks the victory.
Alex Kile scored the first goal for the Gamblers in the first period to even the score at 1-1 with a centering pass from Sheldon Dries. The Michigan recruit scored the 1st goal of the regular season for the Gamblers.
Kyle Novak scored the Gamblers first powerplay goal of the season in the second period to tie the game at 2-2. The forward is entering his third year as a Gambler and scored his 1st goal opening night.
Grigory Dikushin scored his first goal from a back door goal to give his team a one goal lead heading into the third period from a pass by Nick Schmaltz.
Goalie Richard Sabol started his first game at net in the USHL. The netminder recorded the loss with 34 saves on 38 shots.
The Gamblers stay home to face the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders tomorrow night at the Resch Center. Face off is set for 7:05 pm.
