Green Bay elementary school celebrates it's centennial

By: Jim McShea
Updated: September 29, 2012

Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - Howe Elementary School in Green Bay is celebrated 100 years of serving the community Saturday.

Howe is one of the first elementary schools in the Green Bay Area Public School District.

A 100-year-milestone open house was held in honor of Howe's centennial.

People were able to stroll the halls and learn about the school's rich history.

"It's in great condition," principal DeAnn Lehman says. "Looking at the history and the architecture that's there and also just honoring the part of the neighborhood and honoring and welcoming the new that has come to the neighborhood while still showing that we respect and honor what's come before us."

While the school building itself is now 100 years old, Howe Elementary has been around since the 1800s
