Jones Shines Against the Saints

By: Leslie Spoon
Updated: October 1, 2012

Greg Jennings left the game against the Saints after re-aggravating his groin. In his absence, the Green Bay receiving corp showed their depth, with James Jones leading the charge. Jones is a player that has caught his share of flack for dropping passes in the past, but he never lost confidence in his abilities.

"I don't look in to the outside, read the papers, my teammates believe in me, I'm here to play football, I know I can make plays for this ball club and help this ball club win", Jones said.

He did just that Sunday night scoring two touchdowns in the Packers one point win over the saints. It's all about seizing your opportunities, well and maybe borrowing some opportunities from your teammates. Jones first touchdown catch was a pass intended for Jermichael Finley.

"Yeah I stole one from him. It broke down, Aaron scrambled and on the scramble I saw Jermichael on the inside of me so I had turned outside and I didn't see him turn out with me and I just seen the ball and I looked up and grabbed it from him so I owe him one"

"That was to Jermichael", Aaron Rodgers said after the game.  "I Didn't see JJ there, it's not the first time, he stole one at Detroit 2008 on a roll-out, I was throwing it to Greg in the back of the endzone, rolling to my right and he stole that one as well."

James also had an unbelievable catch late in the ballgame to move the chains and keep the ball out of Drew Brees' hands.

"The catch he makes there to seal the game, is that's two players being on the same page, there's not X and O gratification in that particular throw and catch", Mike McCarthy said.

"I caught it under his elbow on the other side of the body and pulled it in", Jones explains. "The Lord was with me, I seen the ball thrown inside, I stuck one hand down and sometimes you get lucky in football and that's what that was."

If any team deserves some luck, it's definitely the Green bay Packers who have had more than their fair share of tough breaks through week four.
