Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - You'll probably saw more kids making their way to school on foot Wednesday morning.
That's because it's International Walk to School Day, to promote the importance of physical activity.
More than 22 schools took part in Green Bay, reaching more than 10,000 students.
Mayor Jim Schmitt took part, walking with the students from Danz Elementary
"I grew up in a community where we all walked to school, I did tell them it was uphill both ways, we have good infrastructure, good sidewalks, crossing guards," Schmitt says. "It's safe its healthy, it's something we want to encourage not just today but throughout the year."
Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld also took part, walking with the students from Howe Elementary.
