MANITOWOC, Wisc. (WFRV) A man is in custody after his cat was found bound, suffocated and tossed into the Manitowoc River.
Police say 49-year-old Michael Wasurick from Manitowoc admitted that he was having suicidal thoughts and took his actions out on his cat instead of himself.
Wasurick says he wrapped the cat's head in duct tape to suffocate it and admitted to "hog tying" it's legs together in duct tape. He then drove the cat to the Manitowoc River on Sunday morning and threw it into the river.
Police say they've had several dealings with Wasurick in the past couple of months; however, none of those involved animals.
Wasurick is facing one felony count of mistreating animals resulting in death. He's scheduled for a bail hearing today.
