Energy Assistance Now Available

By: Wendy Fleury
Updated: October 4, 2012

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. (WFRV) Help is available to keep you warm this winter.

WE Energies says funding is now available for people looking for heating assistance. It's all part of the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program.

Families of four that earn up to about $46,700 a year may qualify. Qualification is not based on whether someone is behind on paying energy bills. Instead, the benefit amount is determined by household size, income level, energy costs and other factors.

If you apply, here are the documents you will need:

Photo ID for applicant, including name and address

Proof of income for all household members for previous three months

Social security cards for everyone in household

Current energy bill

Phone number of landlord and rent certificate or statement (if applicant is renter and heat is included)
