It's time to check your furnace before winter

Menasha, Wis. (WFRV) - You could tell by this weekend's chilly weather, winter is approaching quickly.
That means it's time to make sure your heating system is in proper order.
On Saturday, workers from Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 400 took part in Project Heat's On.
They were checking furnaces in the homes of low income families.
They say now is the time when you want to make sure your heating system is clean, your filters are changed and test your smoke alarms.
"Not only for safety but for peace of mind, we want to make sure that people don't run into expense for repairs and that kind of thing that could add up to a lot of money for these people," Local 400 Member Bob Stammer says.
