GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Today marks the beginning of Fire Prevention Week. The theme is "Have Two Ways Out"
It focuses on having and practicing an escape plan. Nearly 2,600 people die in home fires every year in the United States.
Here are some tips from the Green Bay Fire Department:
Make a map of your home and mark a door and window in every room through which to escape.
Choose a meeting place outside in front of your home.
Practice this plan twice a year.
