GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) Adding to the disappointment of Sunday's Packers loss is the fact that the team is spending three-weeks in a row on the road. But fans and businesses are weathering the long away game stretch quite well.
Crisp, autumn weather made for perfect tailgating at Lambeau Field, even though the Packers were about 400 miles south east of here. That was a mere technicality for members of the "Titletown Jeepers" club. These jeep lovers came to 1265 Lombardi Avenue to watch the game - just because.
Donna Biebel say, "I guess there's not a whole lot of sense to it: in the Lambeau vicinity, in the Lambeau neighborhood. It just makes it a lot more fun."
Feelings shared by fans who flocked to Stadiumview Sports Bar. Which offered two advantages:m Lambeau Field is in plain view and the wait time is much more reasonable. Mike Maine tells us, "You can get a spot at the bar [and] enjoy the game with fellow Packer fans."
The three-game road stand will mean fewer game day sales for the Jersey Store. But fans have more time to ponder future purchases.
Even with no home game day business, stadium district hotels say they're busy with wedding receptions, Gamblers hockey and the upcoming Eric Church concert. They have room to spare for the "Tail on the Fox regatta. It helps us out as far as rooms for folks. If there's a game in town, it's a bit more difficult for them to get a place to stay," adds regatta organizer Steve Engelhardt.
In a published report, Coach Mike McCarthy admitted at first glance of this year's scheduled, he was surprised at the long road swing.
