MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) - The lead investigator in the case of Laurie Depies is retiring.
Lt. Mike Krueger of the Menasha Police Department has been working the case since Depies disappeared more than two decades ago. In that time, thousands of leads have filled multiple file cabinets.
The case is being handed over to the state Division of Criminal Investigation and will be headed by special agent Kyra Schallhorn, who had been assisting Krueger with the case.
The main suspect in the disappearance is Larry DeWayne Hall, who confessed in 2010 to kidnapping and killing Depies then burying her in a remote area of south-central Wisconsin. Hall is currently serving a life sentence at a North Carolina prison.
