GREEN BAY, Wis (WFRV) - The Brown County Association for Home and Community Education hosted an event this afternoon to help prevent indentity theft in our area.

Here are some tips to avoid having your identity stolen:
  • Limit the number of identification cards you carry. Including medical and insurance cards unless they're necessary.
  • Do not give out any personal information over the phone unless you initiated the call.
  • Make sure to shred credit card receipts, credit applications and financial statements.

If you think you've had your identity stolen, contact one of the three major credit reporting agencies listed below. Calling one will effectively notify all three.
