Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - Downtown Green Bay Incorporated is working to snuff out a cigarette butt littering problem.
After launching a "Don't Flick It" campaign and doing a scan of the area just a week ago, 2,664 cigarette butts were found on Washington Street alone.
That's up from a previous scan back in June.
"We plan to continue to improve the program this year as well as kick it off next year," apply for the grant again, do more to educate people, put more facilities on the streets that continues to make an impact so that's what we're gonna do, try to tweak it and make it better for next time, " Crystal Osman of Downtown Green Bay says.
Another scan is scheduled for April.
Cigarettes are the nation's most frequently littered item.
