APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) Math and science aren't always easy topics in school. But research shows half of the fastest-growing occupations in the country rely on these skills. To help kids get excited, hundreds turned out for STEMfest at the Building for Kids Children's Museum.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. Not only did kids get free admission into the museum today, they also participated in hands-on demonstrations.
"They are interacting with robots, large telescopes, science and chemistry explosions. The Lawrence University bomb squad has been doing activities with kids," says organizer Stacy Zaja.
More than 800 kids came through in just the first few hours of today's event.
