Packers starting linebacker D. J. Smith and running back Brandon Saine will miss the remainder of the season due to knee injuries sustained Sunday night against the Houston Texans, the team announced Monday.
Smith, a second-year player, moved into the starting lineup in preseason when Desmond Bishop suffered a season-ending hamstring injury. Brad Jones, Robert Francois, Jamari Lattimore, and Terrell Manning are expected to be in the mix to replace Smith in Green Bay's defense.Saine is a backup running back and special-teams player. The team placed him in injured reserve Monday, and claimed running back Johnny White off waivers from the Buffalo Bills.
