Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) -- Tuesday night the Green Bay City Council voted down plans to build a gasification plant on the city's west side.
The city council rescinded the Oneida Seven Generations Corporation's permit to build the plant by a vote of seven to five.
Earlier this month, a planning commission recommended the group should keep its permit for the plant.
The project has received lots of criticism, with opponents concerned over the plant's emissions.
Tuesday night's decision could still be vetoed by Mayor Jim Schmitt.
