APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) Gas prices are dropping in our area. AAA estimates they're down about 11 cents to $3.70 compared to last week. The drop is seen as a relief to local non-profits and businesses.
The owner of Charles the Florist tells us she fills her delivery van 3 times a week. Prices would have to stay down for a few weeks or months to see cost savings this quarter. She believes prices are a result of the election. "I guess we'll have to wait for the election and see what happens. Some of it is because it's an election period."
Prices may be low but we still have a long way to meeting last year's numbers. AAA reports the cost of a gallon on regular gas in 2011 was$ 3.39.
