GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) Hundreds of volunteers were out in their community, pitching in for those in need. Today is Make A Difference Day. It's observed across the country every year on the fourth Saturday in October.
Many in Green Bay helped senior citizens get their homes ready for winter. Others tutored children and volunteered with habitat for humanity.
"I think it's a way to call attention to the need for volunteers. There's a need year-round. We work with 200 non-profits who use volunteers. This is just one day out of many that people can make a difference through volunteering," says Christine Danielson, the Executive Director of the Brown County Volunteer Center.
Organizers believe it's our civic responsibility to help others. They hope today's event encourages folks to make a difference.
