A Win is a Win

The 1-5 Jaguars came into Lambeau Field today and gave the Packers a ballgame. Offensively, Green Bay only mustered 238 total yards. Jacksonville was averaging a league low 235 yards a game, they put up 341 today. But as Casey Hayward said earlier in the week, the only stat that matters is the win-column. The Packers escape with the "W" and not everyone thought it was an ugly victory.
"It was a beautiful win to me, all wins are beautiful but it wasn't the prettiest game, as crazy as it sounds, it's easy when you're just sitting there watching, I mean it's the NFL", B.J. Raji said.
Brad Jones also weighs in, "In the NFL it's any given Sunday. I think we got the Jaguars best effort as far as the film we watched".
"It was definitely a grind-it-out type victory today", McCarthy said.
But why did the Packers have to grind it out? They were supposed to blow out the dismal Jaguars also suffering key injuries. Aaron Rodgers weighs in:
"We didn't run it well, we were 5-for-13 on third downs, didn't throw it very well, it was a choppy game from the start, we didn't get into a rhythm early."
Even though the unit was out of sync, Rodgers did enough completing 22 of 35 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns. One of those tds was to Donald Driver, who vowed earlier in the week if the opportunity presented himself he'd be ready...
"Anytime you can step on the field and help your team win, it makes you feel good so I was excited about going out there, getting the opportunities to make the plays that I made and hopefully there's more to come", Driver said.
The Packers are committed to the run game for balance purposes, but the numbers aren't there. Alex Green had 22 carries for 54 yards, averaging just 2.5 yards per carry.
"Our production in the run game needs to improve", McCarthy said. "We came in here to be a little more balanced run and pass. Statistically we hit that, but the efficiency was not there."
The Packers have just one more game to get through before a much-needed bye week to get healthy. They were once 2-3... if they win this week that'll be four in a row and 6-3 sounds good to the Green and Gold.
