Green Bay Womens Basketball ranked #25 in coaches' poll

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - For the third consecutive season the Green Bay women's basketball team is making an appearance in the Preseason Top 25 Polls. In the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll released Tuesday, Oct. 30, Green Bay is tied at No. 25 with Kansas, receiving 89 points. In the Associated Press Top 25 Preseason Poll released Oct. 27, Green Bay is just outside the top 25 at third in receiving votes (57).
The No. 25 ranking ties the earliest ranking in program history. In the 2011-12 USA Today/ESPN preseason poll the Phoenix was ranked No. 24. The ranking also marks the sixth time in nine seasons and fourth consecutive season Green Bay has been ranked in the national polls.
Green Bay finished the 2011-12 season with a 31-2 overall record, ranked No. 10 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 13 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll. The season also earned the program's highest ranking at No. 9 in both polls.
Defending NCAA Tournament Champion Baylor collected all first-place votes in both polls to claim the No. 1 spot entering the 2012-13 season.
