MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) We met with the former Governor on the campaign trail Thursday in Milwaukee. Tommy Thompson told us he's been on a whirl-wind tour of the state in recent weeks, crisscrossing Wisconsin.
Most days he spends 16 hours or more rallying support. And Thompson tells us, even at 70, he's still doing push-ups every morning.
We spoke with him extensively about the September 11th attacks. Recently, his campaign began running ads, claiming rival Tammy Baldwin voted against honoring victims of 9-11. The ad generated lots of criticism - even from 9-11 first responders. Non-partisan group PolitiFact even called it "mostly false."
We'll have much more with our interview with Tommy Thompson. Coming up tonight at ten, we'll ask him about recent polls and endorsements and his record as Wisconsin's longest-serving Governor.
