Gov. Walker asks for Ornaments on Capital Tree

By: Administrator
Updated: November 8, 2012

Madison (WFRV)-Today, Governor Walker reached out to students all across Wisconsin to help decorate the Capitol Christmas Tree by submitting their homemade ornaments.  The theme of the tree this year will be In Wisconsin--a symbolization of what it means to call Wisconsin home.

"Last year, in honor of our veterans, our tree stood proudly in commemoration of 163 years of service," said Governor Scott Walker.  "This year, I'm excited to announce the Capitol Christmas Tree's theme will be 'in Wisconsin.'  I invite everyone stop by the Capitol after Thanksgiving to view the ornaments created by Wisconsin's youth."

This year, they are looking for brightly colored ornaments that represent goods or products that are made in Wisconsin, especially within your own community. Some examples include, but are not limited to:

- Milk, cheese and other dairy products

- Cranberries, corn, soybeans and other agricultural goods

- Tuffy Boats

- Pierce Fire Trucks

- Harley Davidson motorcycles

-Engines, turbines, power cranes, and construction machinery

Teachers or students interested in displaying ornaments on the tree must make their submissions by November 19th.  Ornaments should be sent to:
