Manitowoc, Wis.(WFRV)--A landmark in downtown Manitowoc is changing drastically.
The giant beer bottle banners on silos at Riverland Ag Corporation are coming down.
They've been on display for nearly 20 years.
Once the silos were purchased from Anheuser-Busch last year.. the banners were deemed non-conforming by city officials.
Residents say it's a shame to see the bottles go.
Business owner Jim Vogel, "It's just kind of this iconic thing for a city our size to have a billboard advertising our product, not just a product like a can of soup but an alcoholic product it's speaks to our heritage even. We made beer here for years and it's kind of a loss. it's kind of a telling sign of the economy right now."
The plant was first built in Manitowoc back in 1847.
