GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) A new ice rink is proving popular in downtown Green Bay - even if it doesn't have any ice. The rink uses synthetic ice. Organizers say it's better for the environment because there's virtually no maintenance.
It officially opened this morning with a few "celebrity guests" like Ace from the Green Bay Gamblers.
"This is my first time here! I like how it is in Green Bay. I can come here and do it a few times," 9 year old skater Maggie Gallagher told us.
"I think it's wonderful for people who come from big cities for people who settle here and enjoy what the city has to offer. What's more beautiful than an ice rink right next to the river?" said skater Jennifer Younk, who took her kids out for opening day.
The rink is located on the CityDeck and will be open daily from 11 AM until 10 PM from now until March 3rd.
