How does it feel to win? Local Powerball winner reflects

Fond du Lac, Wis.(WFRV)--While we imagine what to do if we won the Powerball jackpot, some in our area are already living the dream.

 Sherri Schmitz knows a thing or two about winning the lottery.
 She and some co-workers at Sargento won more than 208-million dollars in the Powerball jackpot back in 2006. 

 Says Schmitz, "There was 100 of us and 208-million jackpot. I thought 'OMG, I'm going to get 2-million dollars!' Well, then Uncle Sam takes some out..."

 Sherri was one of the few who quit her job at the cheese company.
 Schmitz, "I took the lump sum which ended up... depending on your tax bracket... to be about $650,000." 

 At age 36, Sherri was not ready to retire. Instead, she took a job at Ma & Pa's Miracle Mile- the place where her group bought the winning ticket.

 Says Schmitz, "I paid off my house,  put new windows and siding on and then I put the rest of it away for early retirement,  as my husband would call it." 

 The mother of two continues to work part-time. "It wasn't millions that you didn't know what to do with, so there weren't a lot of people who came out of the woodwork and asked for anything." 
 
 Sherri doesn't feel like the money really changed her life much.
 However, she does have some advice for those who win the more than 550-million dollar jackpot.
 
 "My advice would be if there was something you really wanted,  go get that."

 Sherri says she could have moved away, but her family and friends are here and that's what's important to her.
