Hundreds dig out Lambeau Field for final regular season home game

GREEN BAY (WFRV) Those who couldn't get enough of clearing snow from their driveways and sides got more than their fill at Lambeau Field.

About 625 people answered the Green Bay Packers call for shovelers to dig out the bleachers following Thursday's blizzard. The Mills Fleet Farm Gate opened to shovelers at 8:00 A.M. But some people lined up as early as 5:00 A.M. For some, it was a good practice and a chance to take in the view.

"I used to shovel snow for a company. I kind of like shoveling and playing with the snow. So this gives me and opportunity to see the new stadium," said John Feavel of Appleton.

Shovelers were paid $10 an-hour. Packers facilities manager Todd Edelbeck says hiring hundreds for one day is a bargain for the team.

"Oh, without these people doing this, we couldn't do it," he said. "We're moving a lot of snow. So we couldn't did it without the help of the public."

Local 5's Terry Kovarik has the story.
