The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears have asked the Packers for permission to interview Clements. NFL teams are required to allow assistants to interview for head coaching positions.
Green Bay blocked the Bears from interviewing Clements for their Offensive Coordinator position back in 2010, and Chicago eventually hired Mike Martz.
The Bears fired long-time Head Coach Lovie Smith due to lack of offensive production and playoff appearances according to GM Phil Emery.
"It's flattering," Clements said during his weekly media availability Wednesday.
Clements was then asked how he handles a situation like that, while preparing for a playoff game.
"The way I handle it is, I'd like to talk about the Vikings."
