Three years ago she underwent back surgery to help fix the problem. While necessary, it quickly gave root to a brand new set of issues.
According to Dr. Limoni, an orthopedic surgeon at Aurora BayCare, "the stress was transferred to the next joint which is the sacroiliac joint and over time that wore it out."
The pressure on this joint soon became too much. Susan needed options, but a traditional SI joint fusion, is risky. The complications are so high, Dr. Limoni recommended a new procedure called iFuse. With this approach, he says risks are minimal, recovery is quicker and patients can put 50 percent of their weight on the hip immediately.
After years of pain, Susan is a new woman. She calls Dr. Limoni "a miracle."
