APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) 'Teaching tolerance' was the theme of Lawrence University's Day of Service. It's held every year on Martin Luther King Junior Day to help spread his works and teachings. More than 200 students volunteered at Valley-area Boy's and Girl's Clubs.
Students shared personal stories about what makes them and those around us different. Many hope these stories will inspire the next generation to be more tolerant of others.
Campus events culminated in a speech at Memorial Chapel by Reverend Wanda Washington. She was the founding Pastor of Grace United Church of Christ in Milwaukee.
