Initiative Launched To Make Fox Valley More Inclusive

By: Ed Walters
Updated: January 24, 2013
Appleton, Wis (WFRV) -More than 350 Fox Valley community leaders gathered to launch a four month initiative called INCLUDE, which is aimed at changing attitudes and behaviors toward the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community through education and awareness.

Local leaders held short break-out sessions at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton Wednesday led by area LGBT youth and adults, allies and business leaders.  The exercise gave participants a chance to hear personal stories of the challenges faced by the LGBT community in the Fox Valley.  The program also included a brief introduction to school and community programs given by national safe schools advocate Jamie Nabozny.

INCLUDE is sponsored by the ThedaCare-led Community Health Action Team, Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and the Les & Dar Stumpf Family Fund within the foundation.
