Dylan Rohloff never complained, but a chronic runny nose was enough for his mom to take him to the doctor. When they arrived they discovered fluid in the ears which would result in constant infections.

At 18 months, Dylan got his first set of ear tubes. After a year of relief, his mom Diane was confident their problems were solved, but according to Dr. Mayland that is often not the case. She says about 20 percent of children who get one set of tubes go on to need additional sets.

One night, Dylan found a tube in his bed. Without it, the fluid build right back up. Dr. Mayland knew another set of tubes were a must so Dylan could hear in school and to prevent pain and infection. The procedure took about 15 minutes and Dylan was soon back to normal. He has not had an ear infection for the past year and a half.
