Green Bay Learns Fate, Headed to Baton Rouge

Green Bay camped out on their home court on Monday night to watch the NCAA selection show in front of fans. It didn't take long for their name to be called. The Phoenix head to Baton Rouge to play LSU. So much for a neutral site. Once again GB will play a true home game in round one.

"Tell you what, you have to be 10 points better when you go on the road," Phoenix Head Coach Kevin Borseth said. "You do, it's like playing a conference road game obviously. Teams generally play a little bit better at home.

"Just another routine day for them," said senior Adrian Ritchie.  "But we've always been good at the underdog position."

Green Bay is the underdog according to seeding, not statistics. History repeats itself and the Phoenix get disrespected again being named the 11-seed. The Tigers on the other hand are a 6-seed. How? Green Bay finished the season ranked 20th in both major polls, LSU isn't even ranked. The Phoenix are 29-2, LSU is 20-11.

"Yeah, you know I don't know how to answer that," Borseth said. "I just, the committee does what they do for whatever reason."

"The fans that surround this program will probably think that we got slighted, you know it seems like every year its why can't we get higher," said Ritchie. "You know you can think about that for a very short time but literally there's no control over it now and we just know that that little number next to your name doesn't win you a game. Just cause they're the six doesn't mean that they won the game yet."

Coach Borseth and most of the players didn't know much about LSU personal wise, now scouting will be done of course, but at this point it's all about the Phoenix. You have to dance with what got you here.

"We're comfortable with playing the way we play and we know that that's good enough to be the best and so that's going to be our goal," red-shirt sophomore Megan Lukan weighed in.

Ritchie echoed her thoughts: "What we do as Green Bay is normally good enough and so we're just hoping we can play our best basketball."
