Wisconsin's next Governor addresses state budget today

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Scott Walker tended to Milwaukee County business Wednesday, the day after his election as Wisconsin's next governor.
The Milwaukee County executive addressed the county board's finance committee on the 2011 budget before meeting with his county cabinet.
Walker planned to address budget issues on a much larger scale during a meeting in Madison later Wednesday. He expected to meet with outgoing Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle's budget analysts.
Walker says he'll meet with state lawmakers next week to start working on his agenda to cut taxes and government spending.
Walker inherits a $2.7 billion budget shortfall and his campaign promises will be difficult to keep given the state's ongoing economic struggles.
Wisconsin's unemployment rate is 7.8 percent, nearly double what it was four years ago when Doyle won re-election.
