Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) Former Green Bay Mayor Paul Jadin has resigned from his position as President of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce for another opportunity. Speculation has Jadin tapped to be the Secretary of Commerce under newly-elected Governor Scott Walker. While Jadin could not confirm or deny that today, he did say "That's not an announcement I'll be making. That's the governor's baby," referring to governor-elect Walker. "I'm leaving after about 16 years of community leadership and that's been the toughest part about this position. But I'm obviously leaving for a position that is too good to pass up," Jadin said. According to details of Walker's new plans, Jadin could be called CEO of the Department of Commerce. Neither Walker or Jadin would confirm or deny that report, instead saying an announcement will be made this week. Walker's plan will ultimately change the name of the department and remove the ability to regulate commerce. These are plans that Jadin says he is well informed of, and agrees with. "The governor is on the right track in terms of pursuing private organizations that would influence commerce issues," he said. Jadin has served as the President of the Chamber of Commerce for seven years, and before that he was Mayor of Green Bay for eight years from 1995 to 2003. Jadin announced his resignation in an executive session to chamber board members this morning. He says he will continue to work as President of the Chamber until the third week of January, and an announcement of the interim president will be made soon. Caroline Rowland reports
