Randy Hopper went door to door today, to make sure people in his district vote. This recall election is particularly important for Sen. Hopper, if he loses it will give democrats one of three seats needed to retake the Wisconsin State Senate.
In 2008, Hopper beat challenger Jessica King by just 163 votes. Hopper says while he was in office he reduced taxes and helped balance the state budget.
King is hoping those 163 voters who cast their ballot for Hopper in 2008 will change their minds tonight.
Last month King faced spoiler candidate John Buckstaff. In reality, Buckstaff is a republican but ran against King as a democratic challenger to sway votes. King says Hopper and other senate republicans have sacrificed education and promoted big business as part of what she calls an extreme agenda.
King has defended unions and collective bargaining, and the Wisconsin Professional Police Association has endorsed King, calling her opponent out for cutting funding for police services.
