GREEN BAY (WFRV) - Green Bay's City Council is to debate a proposed mosque tonight.
According to our partners at the Press Gazette, a group known as the Church of Islam is seeking city zoning approval tonight to develop the old Bob's Bait and Tackle Shop on Velp Avenue in Green Bay.
Some aldermen hope to open the topic up for more public debate before voting to approve or deny the zoning request.
Earlier this year, a mosque opened in Sheboygan County. It was the first in the area. The issue sparked controversy there over fears that anti-American attitudes may be taught at the mosque. The first worship was back in May.
