GREEN BAY (WFRV) – The owner of Vicenzi’s is trying to get permission to move the bar from its downtown Green Bay Location.
First he must get approval from the Green Bay City Council to transfer the liquor license.
The owner is looking at a location in the 1400 block of Main Street.
The plan is being met with stiff opposition.
Last week a city committee shot down the request.
Just yesterday the Green Bay School Superintendent sent a letter to the city, urging it to reject plans for moving the bar.
The proposed location on Main Street is very close to East High School.
The Olde Main Street association is also against the move.
Since 2008, Green Bay Police have argued Vicenzi’s drains their resources.
They cite a series of fights.
Vicenzi's owner has long said a number of police calls are unfairly blamed on his bar.
He believes the problem could be solved with a private parking lot.
The building on Main Street has been empty for seven years.
Tonight the full Green Bay city council will weigh in on the plan.
