News @ your desk: Heavy rain leads to flooding

By: Stacy Miesler
Updated: July 6, 2012
Early morning street flooding in Green Bay and the surrounding area have been a result of heavy rains from last night and continuing into this morning. Calumet County District Attorney Ken Kratz will have a chance to fight for his job, following complaints filled by two women. The women say Kratz abused his powers and should no longer serve as the DA. Fond du Lac firefighters acted quick to contain an overnight apartment grease fire. Around 11:30 p.m. last night, crews were called to Morningside Drive. All residents were able to get out and no one was injured. A new 15 year plan has been adopted to fight chronic wasting disease in Wisconsin deer. The plan calls for the DNR to continue monitoring the disease and to use sharpshooters to thin the herd where new infections appear on the edge of the disease zone. The Oshkosh School Board has given a green light to a $119 million budget. According to the Oshkosh Northwestern, the approved budget puts millions of dollars in new spending towards specialized teaching staff and new technology infrastructure. The board will approve an official tax rate in late October. New information has been released about President Obama's rally at UW Madison Tuesday. The President will appear at Library Mall, next to the student union, and singer songwriter Ben Harper will also be appearing with Mr. Obama. The Kimberly booster club is asking you to donate used shoes to the Goodwill tomorrow night. The Kimberly Papermakers will take on the Kaukauna Ghosts. Drop off your shoes from 4 to 7 Friday night at Papermaker Stadium in Kimberly.
