Brewers Win Postseason Opener, 4-1 over Arizona

By: WFRVNEWS
Updated: October 1, 2011

The Milwaukee Brewers won Game 1 of their National League Division Series on Saturday afternoon over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park.

Yovani Gallardo pitched 8 strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out nine for the Brewers in front of a fired-up sellout crowd of over 44,000.

Offensively, Ryan Braun went 3-4 while Prince Fielder hit a 2 run homer in the 7th inning to give Milwaukee a 4-0 lead.  Ryan Roberts put Arizona on the board with a solo home run off Gallardo in the top of the 8th, but John Axford worked a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for 4:07 PM on Sunday afternoon.  Zack Greinke takes the mound for the Brewers, while Daniel Hudson will pitch for Arizona.
