Ryan Roberts gave Arizona the lead in the first inning with a grand slam off of Brewers starter Randy Wolf. It was the second consecutive night the Diamondbacks hit a grand slam, which is only the 2nd time in postseason history that feat took place. Chris Young followed Roberts' blast with a solo homer of his own, the first of 2 home runs for Young on the evening.
Wolf lasted just 3 innings, allowing 7 earned runs. The Brewers chipped away at the lead several times, but never recovered from Arizona's big first inning.
The series will now come down to Game 5 on Friday at Miller Park in Milwaukee. First pitch will be at 4:07 PM. Game 1 starters Yovani Gallardo for Milwaukee and Ian Kennedy of Arizona will pitch once again. Gallardo led the Brewers to a 4-1 victory in Saturday's Game 1. The winner of the contest will advance to the National League Championship Series to face the winner of another Friday Game 5 between the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies.
