Big Sarge Fishing Report for April 20
By: Vince "Big Sarge" Sherrill, Arkansas Fishing Report
Updated: April 20, 2012
If that's your plan this weekend, Big Sarge has you covered with this week's fishing hot spots.
Let's go straight North Arkansas, Lake Norfork. Y'know, right now, the bass are kinda spawning, they're not spawning, they're on the secondary points but they're hitting everything.
Yellow Magic Popper, Spook, Carolina Rig. Jerk bait's probably going to be your best bet right now
Go up there, you're going to have a good time. Water temperature's about 74.
Greer's Ferry and Lake Conway. Let's start with Greer's Ferry. Smallmouth on fire and they're in brush about six feet and under. Throw a spinnerbait, flip a jig in there and you're going to have a good time, catch some smallmouth.
Alright, let's go to Lake Conway. The brim, catfish, crappie, bass -- they're all hitting.
Let's go south -- Arkansas River at Dumas. Really good right now. Go back there in the backwater, grass, stumps, flip a jig, flip a lizard's really good. But you're going to catch some big bass down there. A lot of people are having fun down there.
Now we're going to go to my technique on flipping. This one right here's what you call a Bubble Stopper. You can pick these up at Arkansas Rod & Reel.
All you want to do is just stick your line through this loop, cinch it, pull it and it's going to show up right here on your line. Then get your tungsten weight, pull it through, get your hook, make sure you wet it real good so it don't break on you.
What's happening is it's going to stay right there. So when I flip, my bait goes down here, then the weight goes here and follows it down. So basically what's happening -- it's going to go down at the same time.
Okay anglers, right now there's some of my favorite holes. We're going to go in here and I'm going to try that technique. Let's see if we can can catch some bass. There he is!
Okay anglers, there you go! He's about a five-pounder. I believe that flipping technique's going to work for ya. Y'all go home and try it on your favorite water.
Hey, this is Big Sarge. I'll see ya next week.

Think you can catch more fish than he can? If so, click here for more information and to enter the contest.
